High Carbon/ Charge Chrome
Stainless steel depends on chrome for its appearance and its corrosion resisting properties. The Ferro Chrome distributed by FrontMet is produced in South Africa, Brazil and India. Our direct agreements with producers allow us to supply at competitive prices to all markets.

Low Carbon
Low Carbon Ferro Chrome is produced by reducing chrome ore with Ferro Silicon Chromium, typically the Chrome contents are minimum 60% with carbon contents ranging from 0.05% to 0.15%. FrontMet distributes Ferro Chrome Low Carbon produced from Brazil, China and Turkey. Due to close cooperation with the producers we can be a long term partner to the steel industry.

Ferro nickel

Ferro Nickel is primarily used in the production of stainless steel. The fact that Nickel is alloyed with high purity iron, makes this the most competitive primary nickel unit for Stainless production. Ferro Nickel in various forms, granules, ingots and shots, can be added in all steps in the melting process using automatic feeding systems. We cooperate closely with all major Ferro Nickel producers in the world, and aim to ship directly from the source to the end consumer to ensure lowest possible logistic costs. In close technical cooperation with producers we valorize internal revert flows to unlock these units as secondary Nickel unit for the raw material mixes.

Ferro Niobium

Ferro Niobium is mainly used to produce high strength low alloy steel (HSLA) for its unmatched properties to add strength, lighten weight, enhance flexibility and weldability, improve durability and reduce costs. Brazil and Canada are the largest producing nations. FrontMet works closely together with the Ferro Niobium producers and operates a worldwide logistical and stockholding network to guarantee short delivery times.

Ferro Silicon

Ferro Silicon is an important additive for alloying and de-oxidation purposes in steelmaking processes. FrontMet distributes all grades of ferrosilicon including High Purity and Low Carbon manufactured in China, Brazil and India. We keep local stocks of the full range of Ferro Silicon to ensure short delivery times.

Nickel

Nickel has a high melting point, high resistance to corrosion and oxidation, excellent heat resistance properties and a good alloying ability. FrontMet handles a wide range of Nickel products like briquettes, cathodes, powders and other forms of Nickel from all major primary Nickel producers in the world. Apart from primary Nickel we also specialize in secondary (recovered) Nickel units for blending and alloying of raw material mixes, for scrap processors and end-consumers alike. We hold inventory in warehouses on all continents to ensure short delivery times.

Nickel Pig Iron

Nickel Pig Iron has proven to be the main nickel unit to be used as raw material for stainless steel production in Asia. It is produced from using low-grade Nickel ore, coking coal and a mixture of fluxes. Nickel Pig Iron provides, besides Nickel, Chrome in addition to Carbon and Silicon, all of which are needed in the production of stainless steel. FrontMet acts as exclusive distributor for Indoferro and serves the European, African and US markets. Nickel content ranges from 5 – 8% and will reach 12% from 2017 onwards.

RECOVERED FERRO CHROME

One of FrontMet’s specialty products it offers is a high grade recovered metal-alloy from discharged primary metal production slag. Through a continuous customization and optimization process with our partners the quality of recovered metal can often match the quality of the original primary Ferro alloy. We can offer our clients a tailor made product specification that gives them the flexibility to choose the optimal balance between competitively priced raw material costs versus melt shop operational efficiencies.
